The
Indian computer market is growing at a rapid phase with computers being used
in more & more applications and by more & more people as well as
organisation. Consequently, the need for trained people to man and operate
them has increased proportionately. Considering the fact that 50% of the
total PCs sold are either self-driven or already manned, a solid requirement
of computer operators and software professionals is lying straightforward.
The tremendous market potential and demand for computer education is
highlighted by the following facts:
- According to International
Data Corporation (IDC), the worldwide market for technical computer
training is expected to grow to $28 billion by the year 2003 from $16
billion in 1996. The fastest growth rates will be recorded in the Asia
Pacific region.
- According to Computers Today
annual IT industry survey, the Indian computer training industry has
grown from Rs 680 Cr. to Rs. 2500 Cr. in 2003
- According to NASSCOM*, the global
software services market will be worth $50 billion and will employ over
a million software professionals in near future.
- According to a study by
Information Technology Association of America, more than 346,000 IT jobs
remained unfilled in 1999 because of lack of skilled labour.
- According to NASSCOM, India
requires over 75,000 computer trained people annually by the year 2000
and the number is going to increase in the coming years. The current
education capacity in India can turn out only a small part of this
requirement.
Who will cater to the growing need of computer professionals ?
Government run training
programs and courses are expected at the most, to supply 17% of the
requirement. In addition, Government recognised organizations (Universities,
Colleges) that offer computer courses are not expected to contribute more
than a mere 7.5% in terms of trained manpower.
It is thus left to private
organisations & institutes to fill the large gap between the DEMAND AND
SUPPLY of computer trained people. Most of the computer training institutes
are concentrated only in the larger cities. And nobody realises a truth;
there also exists a tremendous need for training facilities in small towns
and semi-urban areas.
According to
LITRATIM's own estimate there is an enormous potential in these small towns,
which can be explored by opening a CASTLE Learning Centre. Once again another
- FIRST STEP Thanks to the MASTER MIND.
